Default Garmin 525s with weather overlay?

Is it possible?? Or is my unit incompatible?
What hard parts would I need to purchase?
Any reprogramming required?
I assume if all is compatible that an XM receiver would be required, and from that could I also get the other/music etc channels??

I stay inshore- ICW and rivers primarily and don't fish, so I don't want to buy nor need a lap top sized screen- as cool as it would be it would be hard to justify the expense. I just am tired of booting my cell and comparing its weather radar to the chartplotter...

Thanks for any and all input

Uh, I answered my own question via Garmin CS and website- no radar for me with a 525s

This is my dilemma. I love using a chart plotter for position, sounder for depth, and GFS10 for fuel stats. And I also like to stay abreast of thunder storms, especially this time of year in Florida- which is like every time I'm on the water But draining my cell with repeated radar check updates isn't working well.

So if I wanted both GPS/sounder/fuel and weather radar on the same screen, I looks like I'd need to (as a minimum) get a 526s ( thus use existing wiring) plus GXM51, the total retail price would be about $1500, street maybe $1100.

But might there be a much less expensive way to get satellite weather radar along with current location without all of the other features in my current system?

How about a 12v outlet (cigarette lighter) and a car charger for your cell phone?? Would be a lot cheaper!

Thanks clamc- unfortunately that wouldn't address the additional and unmentioned issue of spotty cell reception that satellite would.
My hunch is that you use said cigarette lighters all too often, and might be feeling the urge right about now

Haven't used one for that purpose for several years . Now just use it for spotlights and cell phone charging when in-shore.
