Default Lorance side scan or Garmin 547xs

Hi guys,Been thinking of adding another tool for finding fish for our customers.I already have a Furuno1000 watt thru hull system.Been thinking of getting a Lorance HDS touch gen 2 with just the Lss2.I know some guys using the side scan and there happy with them for finding ledges.Another possibility is the small garmin 547xs chirp with the thru hull. What should we do And why?? 80 to 150 ft.Capt.Mike

I'd do search here for experiences with the recent crop of Lowrance products.

They are two different animals. Sidescan is cool. I have it. I use it mostly for finding bait to fill the tank.

the 547xs is a CHIRP unit and a small one at that. I would imagine the 295 a better unit.

I would think the sounder in the Furuno is pretty damn good and the 547 probably wouldn't give you a lot of benefit as it duplicates the Furuno. If you didn't have a sounder, it would be a good option. Since you are looking to augment the Furuno sounder the side scan will give you much more additional capability. The Lowrance sounder is good in its own right if you ever decide to use it.
