Default Looking for new fishfinder. Help

As the title says, I'm looking for a new depth/fish finder. I'm also lookin for one with gps so I can mark brush piles and what not. I mainly fish lakes and rivers and this will be for a 16' Jon boat. I've kinda been looking at the humminbird 587 and 597 units. Don't really wanna spend more than $500. What's your opinions and some more suggestions? Thanks

Both the 587 / 597 Birds will be excellent for what you are fishing..very reliable units...and will give you excellent results.
You are on the right track.

Thanks for the quick reply. What are the differences between the two besides the screen size?

Both are available in DI and yes..basically the screen is the difference.

The Raymarine Dragonfly will also be in that category.....a unit to look into.

Ok thanks. Another question, what is the purpose of DI? Is it worth the extra money to have this feature? From what iv looked at, a lot of people say that they don't normally even use the DI. I guess since iv never used it before and hardly know what it is, I'm guessing that I'd never miss it
