Default Chirp systems and downriggers

Anyone using the Garmin 547 with TM 150 'ducer for downrigger fishing? Wondering what depths you are able to read the balls down to and how fast while doing so?

REALLY ready to take the plunge, but need to know how it does with downriggers?

Thanks!

Welcome to THT.

Any fishfinder will see the ball sitting under the transducer but If you were moving much faster than a very slow troll the ball will likely be out of the transducer cone. If you want to know how deep your ball is you might consider learning a little Trigonometry. BTW, many of us have ditched the balls and use planners.

Default Downriggers and planers

Thanks Iron,
I fish riggers to depths of 200'+ for lakers on the bottom. Even trolling at 1 mph we experience blowback with 12 pound balls. Then we have baits trailing to 150' behind the balls for VERY ball shy fish.
My experience is strictly with 50Khz standard transducers and can see the balls and baits well, but picking these tight to the bottom fish out is why I want to go Chirp. I am also going with a Fish Hawk that includes depth, so NO math required
I think all my questions have been answered as to what I can expect. I make my living charter fishing for these fish so want all the advantage I can get, but I also have a very refined presentation that has been very successful.
