Default Garmin networking question

As an alternative to pairing a 12-inch chartplotter display (5212 or, if funds are available, 7212) with the GSD-24 sounder, can you connect a 547xs combo unit and display the fishfinder data on the big chartplotter screen? That would also provide the benefit of redundant chartplotter backup.

The 547 will not network with the 5212. What shows on that screen will stay on that screen. And vice versa.

x2 to above.

Only the 4 digit Garmin models (3210, 4212, 5212, etc) are networkable. The 3 digit models (547, 740, 741, etc) can talk to other devices via NMEA2000, but it will only transfer data not large volumes of information. So your 547 can send speed, depth, water temp to your 5212 (all via N2k) but it can not display a sounder screen.
