Side of console would be easy, but have the rear of the speaking sticking into the finished console. The anchor locker would open the speaker to all sorts of anchor abuse.

I had thought perhaps here would be a viable spot, but I am not sure we ever connected with this idea well:

All good suggestions. I've got some exploring and measuring to do this weekend. Thanks everyone!

Did a quick mock up in MS Paint. Not sure if the depth is there to mount these guys, but I'll check. If it could work I guess I could still use one of the under gunwhale rod holders if I mounted them this way. But my concern would be having the rod holder holes so close to the sub. I read this thread and the concensus was that it was better to plug the rod holes, which I don't think that I'm ready to do just for more bass http://www.thehulltruth.com/marine-e...on-glen.html#b

Just redid the speakers in my 26 Regulator.

Added 2 pairs of JL Mx650 and 1 pair of Mx770. The 770's are in the forward seating facing aft. One pair of 650's are up front, under the gunnel, and the other pair are mid ship facing in. I thought about the M880 for the forward seating, but my amp is only a M6500. I already had the amp and I didn't want to buy a new one.

Overall I am very impressed. It more than loud enough when running.

I power it with a Fusion IP700, which is great as I can adjust the volume for all three pairs. I might add a pair of tweeters to the T-top, facing down, and power them off the headunit.

Did some investigation around the hull and think that I found a spot that would work for mounting the subs. Above the coaxials by the forward seating.

In a perfect world, I would prefer the sub to be on the bottom and the mid/hi to be on the top. But I just don't have the depth where the current coaxial is to switch it out with the sub. Any drawbacks to putting the sub up top?

Back massage chair? Thanks for doing all this investigative work, it will help me if I ever decide to add a subwoofer I don't think there are any big drawbacks, putting it at the floor level will give some reinforcement, but nothing a second sub won't fix

Best place is from a local installer who is a JL Marine dealer. For pricing, check the JL Audio website for MSRP and then compare to the unauthorized seller websites like onlinecarstereo and dealercostaudio (I don't recommend buying from these as you won't get warranty and they could be knock offs or refurbs). Your local installer should be able to give you a discount somewhere in between MSRP and the unauthorized sellers pricing.

If you just want to buy online and retain the warranty, you have to buy from an authorized dealer http://www.jlaudio.com/footer/Internet+Sales/
