Default Quality of Garmin Preloaded Coastal Maps?

Having previously owned Lowrance products and running the Navionics cards how does the Garmin preloaded coastal maps in the models that come with it compare? Do they have things like oil platforms, wrecks, reefs, etc on them? Does one really need to buy the addition Bluechart cards to make the mapping adequate?

I think the preloaded charts are all you need to navigate safely.

you dont HAVE to buy the G2 card, but it's well worth it. It is a much better map. The standard ones have everything you have asked about, but the G2 shows even more

Thanks for the responses guys.

CLang...... can you elaborate what exactly you get more of with the G2, seeing as we fish similar waters?
