What does the "L" stand for ?

Also, am I "8.889 sm" from tide data source, at a course of 51 degrees" ?

'sm' is Statute Miles (as opposed to Nautical Miles ....)

From pages 8.1 & 8.2 of the manual:

TIME REFERENCE
GPS uses UTC time. If you would rather use local time, key in the time difference between it and UTC time.

You are 8.889 Statue Miles from the tide station, at a bearing of 51deg Magnetic... high tide will be at 10:30am Local time.
