Your decision will depend on a couple variables... What kind of boating will you be doing? Any fishing, will you be using radar. I have always loved Garmin units and every boat Ive rigged I have had nothing but positive feedback. The 4-5000 series units are probably most popular in your sized boats but now with the drop in pricing of the 7000 units I would recommend taking that route. I just rigged 3 7212s last week and the clients love them.. A very user friendly MFD with tons of features.

100% personal preference I believe. all of the companies are coming out with very similar products with different interfaces and the same results. see which one if the easiest for you to use. right now for me that is raymarine.

Garmin has really a strong customer base..most units are very easy to use and Garmin's customer support has really been positive the last few years.

X2 for Garmin! I own a 720 & 740S on my Seaway 24' I simply LOVE them both & they are so reliable & easy to use. I have a simple P66 transducer & it does pretty well as a sounder. I don't fish hardcore, but do my fair share of Cod & Haddock, Bass & Blues up here in New England.
