Default Simra/BSM 2 working great-Cheers everyone!

Hey Gents,

Took the Simrad NSS12 and BSM2 with SS175 L & SS175H out for a run today - even though I only went to 60 metres she was humming, I went with the Z1 impedance , like I said I was only in 60 metres but were picking up bottom (Clearly) doing 28-30 kts chirping @ 130-210 & on the standard 200 marking lumps with the track back doing these speeds, id just like to thank a few of the guys on here like Gil, Rlazar & Abborr, don't think I would have had as much luck without the help like I got from you guys-thanks again.

We are going Marlinfishing and deep dropping in 500 metres+ in a week or so. Will put some screen shots up of what she is good for/to

Glad to hear you are happy with the setup. Looking forward to seeing your screen shots from the marlin fishing and the 500m+ deep dropping

I am currently doing some troubleshooting myself. can i ask how big the wire was that you used for the jumper Z1 or 100ohms? Also, was the wire stranded or solid? Does it really matter all that much? My jumpers are in the right spots (Z1) but while I have it opened up, I want to make sure on the wire size and type just to make sure. I don't have the original jumpers so I improvised with wire.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

It doesn't matter if it's solid or stranded. In the BSM-2 package there should be some red short wires meant for these connections. I would guess they are in the range AWG20-22. The wire used is stranded, the deinsulated area is tinned. If using stranded wire you should either apply tin or use correctly sized cable ferrules.

Congrats
I'm gonna check my connection on the bsm and see if the jumper wire is making proper connection.

BTW, if you are using the standard jumper wires that comes with BSM-2, you need to strip them more than they have, At first, I used them as is but there was no way to get a secure connection in the terminal. It would look like it was connected but it really wasn't. Strip them a bit more and then they fit properly.

Good stuff, glad the B175s are working well. Make sure you get some screenshots in the deeper water, be very interested with your performance.

There is some dispute on that. I have a special dealer notice that says it should be set to Z1. I confirmed the same with Airmar. The official documentation from Simrad however does not indicate so.
