Default Brand New Raymarine DSM30 not working

So I bought a 2006 Boston Whaler 305 Conquest with the e120 Classic already on it. When I went to a Fish Finder page, it said "No Data Source", so I assumed no DSM / transducer was ever installed and purchased a new DSM30 / through hull transducer from West Marine. When I started to plan my install, I noticed a through hull transducer was already installed, which led me to check and find a DSM300 was also already installed. Nothing I tried would get the e120 to recognize it though. The DSM blinked steady green, but the e120 always said no data source.

So, I unplugged the DSM300 and plugged in the DSM30, then powered the e120 back up - bang, it immediately recognized. I was on dry dock, so I didn't think much of the fact it wasn't showing any depth reading. Put the boat in the water today, and NO DEPTH. No bottom scroll, nothing. Checked the DSM30 and it's blinking 8 ambers.

End of the rope...anyone have a suggestion about what to try next? My only idea is software updates for both the DSM and e120?

If you still have the new transducer I would plug it in the DSM and hang it overboard to confirm the ducer in the boat works. Updating the software on the MFD is also a good idea.

8 ambers is a watchdog timeout reboot, should clear in 15 minutes. No experience with the 30 but on the 300, some of them do the watchdog timeout every time their powered up. I have no friggen clue what the heck a watchdog timeout reboot error is but it still should read when in that mode.

Thanks for the reply. Went down to the boat today and installed the latest software on the e120 and DSM. Ran the system for a couple hours. Pulled the power on the DSM for a hard reset at one point. Ran the generator and batter charger to make sure full voltage was supplied. No luck. Same result - no depth, no scroll, 8 blinking ambers. On top of that, after updating the e120, my radar stopped displaying correct results! Wow....

By the Way, I confirmed my Transducer is an Airmar. I don't know which model - it is a 20 degree thruhull type. Unfortunately I already returned the transducer I had bought, so I won't be able to test it that way.
