Default Nmea/Simnet

Hey Gents,

I'm networking a NSS12 & NSS 7 and would like to link my GS15 external aerial into it as I'm not a fan of internal aerial, to get the Antenna to give signal to both do I have to use NMEA & Simnet? & do I have to go to both?

You can do it with N2K. Make an N2K backbone, add a node for the GS15, you may have to use a Simnet to N2K cable to do this. Add a node for both MFDs.

You will need a Simnet to N2000 cable to do this. I just did a similar set up.

GS15 has micro-C connector on the antenna, it comes with a 15' micro-C to SimNet adapter cable. Two options, replace the 15' cable with a NMEA 2000 cable or connect another SimNet to Micro-C adapter cable to the SimNet connector using an in-line joiner (the adapter needed is SimNet to Micro-C male).

The cheapest of the two options is to replace the 15' adapter cable with a NMEA 2000 cable.

But the cheapest option is the third one which is to cut off the SimNet connector and replace it by a male Maretron field attachable NMEA 2000 connector (micro-C).
