Those bundled Navionics cards are not actually "Gold" by Navionics standards. The "Gold" refers to the Lowrance device. That means the Navionics card isn't the same as the "Gold" 1XG card you would typically buy through them. And its not valid for online upgrades...

What is GOLD by Navionics standards? What card is sold with the GOLD package? And why isn't the GOLD card upgradeable on line as long as you buy the Navionics Updates?

Try not to be so vague please.

Edd - The Gold card is the same data as a 1XG it is just not updateable out of the Lowrance Box. You are correct that you can purchaes the Navionics Update for $99 and then download the areas that you boat.

Is this the final word on the "gold" card that came with the Elite 7. I bought mine some months ago and quickly learned that although the tide charts were supposedly on these cards, Lowrance was going to do a software update to allow the data to be viewable. I got this from Navionics Tech Support via email, but I never learned if they had supposedly done this. If Baxter is correct, it doesn't appear that my "gold" card can ever be updated. So I must buy the $99 "Gold" card now? Seems like a bit of bait and switch (pun intended).

I have the same package and it comes with 1 year of updates. I did call Navionics and they told me that it is not a standard card and it is custom to Lowrance. That being said I can still update it. The only frustration I had was that it covers the coast as well as FL, GA, and SC lakes. I live in NC. I am not sure why it covers those specific states for lakes as Lowrance told me that it was more for coastal and not the inland lakes. Maybe it is a regional thing.
