Default Electronics Upgrade

I would like to hear some opinions on which electronics to upgrade to. Here is my scenario:
I fish the Gulf of Mexico in Northwest Florida to Big Bend on average about 3 weeks out of the year.
Depths are usually 20 to 150 feet.
Range is from shore out to about 40 miles at most.

I have looked at several multi-function display units, Lowrance, Simrad, and Furuno and read the forums on this site regarding all. They all seem to have their own unique qualities, which makes choosing difficult. What I am looking for is trying to get the best bang for my bucks. Any thoughts on which multi-function display unit might be best for me based upon my scenario would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Take a look at a Raymarine a, c or e series with built in sonar. There are several sizes to choose from and all have built in GPS recievers. Any of these units will work very well for your needs. Most important part of the system will be a good transducer. Good luck.

Lowrance and Simrad have some nice rebates. I like them for the fish finder capabilities as far as chirp(simrad) and both for side scan. With the new gofree wireless coming out it expands their wireless capabilities.

How big of a screen can you fit? Most bang for your buck is going to be a smaller screen because it has capability but just lacks screen real estate. Personally I love my 12" and wish it was bigger!

I would go NSS7, B60 Transducer, ?3G Radar?, and Structure Scan for my value package.
It is a toss up for me whether I would upgrade the screen first or the transducer first. My ideal screen would be the NSS12 but the NSS8 would give you a lot more usable screen space over the 7, and transducer would be the SS264 pair.

I went NSS12, BSM-2 CHIRP, M265 Transducer, 4G Radar, and Structure Scan for my what I want package

Oh, you could also do something like the HDS12 Touch which has built in structure scan. Would run you less than a 12" simrad setup and still be a very nice MFD.
