Default Looking to upgrade electronics

Looking to upgrade my electronics to a MFD like raymarine c-80 or c-90. I will be upgrading my radar and transducer at the same time. Id like to stick to a transom mount ducer. Prolly gonna go used. Whats the best setup as far as domes, ducers etc. i usually fish in less than 400' of water and do a lot of chunking so id like to get a ducer that could see the slick im putting out. Model/part numbers in suggestions would be great as i am not well versed in electronics. I will have all my new gear installed by a pro. Ty in advance

I would not really consider a C80 and upgrade...It is only compatible with analog radar

Ok c-90 it is. Now what would you add to that? I guess i need a radar dome, transducer, gps antenna ( or is built in good enough?) and the fishfinder "box" and then all cables? Is that it?

Do you mean the C90w? That is from the old Raymarine which some people like and some don't. You can get them for a great deal right now.

Look over the prices on these 17 close out and refurbished MFDs from Raymarine. A factory refurbished unit would be a safer bet than a sight unseen used MFD purchased on the internet. Your budget for all components constrains your choice of an MFD, so that is need to know information.

Those closeouts are truly unbelievable deals. Coming from a guy who sells used electronics 80 hours a week, a C140w for $1200 is crazy good. I'm almost tempted to buy 25 of them and hold them for a year. Occasionally, when I price used stuff, I run across old closeouts from Bethel Marine or First Choice that they don't delete and I say, damn, I am selling this used ________ for $500 more than these guys wanted for a new one on closeout.

Heck, buy an RD418D for $1000 online, a new non-mexican DSM300 for $500, and a decent transducer and you're into a decnt package for around $3k.

You'll probably want to buy a DSM300 and then you may select either a 600w or 1000w transducer. Your C140W will support a color HD radar and that's what I have/recommend .

Interesting - I've been looking for an upgrade from my Garmin 188c - is the 50D a well regarded unit? The 90 is within my budget, but my boat isn't all that big and I don't think I could find a spot on the helm for such a large display.

Assuming you mean "A50D"? In which case, the short answer is "NO". It is not really networkable, does not support RADAR, has a downright puny low-res screen, and is either at or very near End-Of-Life.

I'd wager this depends on what else you're also trying to cram in there. As I said before, either post a pic or two, or point to one already online that we can take a look at.
