Check with this guy--he's a retired Simrad Tech and has helped me with my AP12--repairs and tech support

Excellent work and reasonable prices

Sounds like the pump. Disconnect it from the junction box 3000 (You have an AP11 with J3000X I'm assuming?), put 12V to the pump and see if it turns. If you do not hear a sound your pump is definately bad. I think an RPU-80 is $800ish. Good Luck

Yep this guy is the best.
Rich Barnes is the main autopilot guy for the Alaska commercial fishing fleet. The company I work for uses him exclusively for pilot problems or new pilot installs.

Actually, the OP already identified his unit as the AP3000:

http://www.simrad-yachting.com.es/en...00X-Autopilot/

This is a predecessor to the AP11, developed just about the time (at least part of) Roberson was acquired by Simrad. But it is very similar, in that it uses either the J3000X or J300X junction units, and the RPU80 or RPU160 pumps, both depending on application.

Default AP-11 Manual

The manual is helping me - to some extent. Rich Barnes is also looking at mine. PITA for sure
