C-Map will very soon be available as well. The same chart system will not be best for all areas. When C-Map becomes available you should compare Insight HD, Navionics Platinum Plus and C-Map to see who offers the best charts for your area.

navionics offers a south carolina/north fl card in the platnium plus.

and it looks like the insight is fairley decent.. but the demo is ehhh. the posts mentioned above are ok but dont really go over pro' cons of each against each other.

do any have pre loaded waypoints for the man made wrecks and such that are known fishing spots? is the 3d modeling any diffrent from the hd insight vs the 3d on the navionics.

how often do they update.. they offer a year unlimited update on the card.. but do they actually update it or is it a marketing tactic.?

how often do you buy cards? every 2 /3 years or only when going to a new unit?

do you need to leave the card in or when you inset it does it install on the unit? the hds7 iirc only has one sd card slot so if i needed to or wanted to plan a trip do i need to remove the navionics card to create a way point in the planner program..

as far as pre loaded way points - no , with the platinum chat you do have a extra bathy in the chip. Nn the hds7 under chart option just turn on the Fish n Chip option. This will bring up more bottom bathy.(note turn it off to bring back the navigation chat).
Differance on 3d is insight goes away at lower levels, nav stays on.at all levels.
updates are add to navionics daily from what I could find out. not always in my area but some where in the world.
Leave the card in the unit no matter what you by. They are all plug and play.
navionics comes with what they call a pc app to do planning on you PC. it is the same chart area that you purched. I have used it and it is ok. Not the easiest but ok for free.

hope this helps.
