Default Looking for a sat phone for offshore in NJ

Does anyone have suggestions? Has GlobalStar fixed their problems yet?
I am sure that each vendor has it's advantages and disadvantages, what phone and service plan would you recommend for a relative low minute pan, maybe 50-100 minutes for the season?

Thanks

Hi - I searched and searched and finally settled on an Inmarsat iSatPhone Pro.
What I really like is that with this company the airtime minutes don't expire till Jan 2015.
Below is a link to the company I bought it from (good sales support and pretty much the best price I could find). Nothing in it for me but tell them Andrew in NJ from the THT Forum passed their info. along.

I fish the canyons off of NJ. (I already received my phone and tested it out in the back yard. It works well)

I'm in the process of uploading all my coast guard and emergency number.

Feel free to call me if you'd like.

You should call Chris from Pelagic Outfitters. He offers several Sat. phone options. He is a THT sponsor too.

I have Global star with a Qualcomm 1700 portable handset.
The network is not perfect yet but the last 6 satellites were successfully launched Feb 6 and are ready to be parked into orbit.

The first 2 this week the last 2 in July then the network will finally be 100%.
For me in Florida in the GOM I see 3 to 9 minute outages once to twice per hour now but Global Star has a tracking tool to let you know when those times occur.
When I'm talking its like a land line phone or good cellular connection. No latency that I can tell and very good voice quality.

Now the best part. Until Feb 28 you can get unlimited voice and data plan for 1 year for $40/month. But you would have to hurry that offer ends tomorrow.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it and excited to see it coming along toward its old quality.
