Default Garmin 8000 Series

I have a 5212 on console and 5208 in tower ..... You think its possible to change the 5212 to a 8012 and keep all the networking and 5208 or would I need to change out everything ?

If you have any nmea 0183 connections to the 5000, you will need to rewire to the new 8000 cable. The 8000 will use a different cnnector so you can't just plug the 5000's cable into the 8000. You will have to check the power connector; it may have changed also.

Everything else should be the same (garmin network and n2k).

I recently upgraded my 5212 to the 7212 and what a difference it is... Only thing I had to switch out was the power cable, as it has a much better design to lock it into place. I'm not sure about the 8000 but my 7212 is much bulkier in the back due to some new heat sinks, other than that you will love the speed and lightning quick redraw of maps.

You can use your power cable, just call garmin & have them send you a new screw on type connector. Just snip off your connector & clip new one on.

I would be interested in buying your 5212 if you decide to make a change.
