Default Quick Smartcraft Gauge Question

I can't find a good Smartcraft Gauge compatibility chart anywhere.

I have a 2003 Opti.

Is it true that if the gauges have a white back they are good for before 2002 and the blue backs are for 2002 and newer?

Can it really be that easy????

I need to replace the gauges that came with my motors. Somehow they got water behind the lenses and my mechanic says that they are shot because if that. I'm sure that's true.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Actually I have a second question, does it matter that water was behind the lens? There is I drain hole (I presume thats how the water got in when they were left outside) that the water drained out.

It seems as the digital readout is enclosed?

Thoughts?

First - Call mercury for support :-) about "old unit" - they are pretty effective in the US.

Anyway - if your gauges are working you can try to wrap them in tissue - and then cover the gauges in a pot of rice (non cooked) - rice can extract moisture if there is any way for the moisture to exit. You will have to leave them in there for a few days to get all the moisture out. The tissue wrap is to prevent rice dust to get IN to the electronics -
