Default Simple Ipod compatable radio/speakers for E box?

I'm looking for a simple, inexpensive radio to put in the electronics box that can have an Ipod nano or shuffle plugged into it. If possible, would just prefer a simple fm radio without cd as I don't want to pay for features I won't use or will be the first thing to die. Something that has a jack for an Ipod, don't need Iphone capabilities. Speakers will be bracket mounted on the outside of the e box....not looking for exceptional sound quality. Not going to be used as a party boat, so I don't need a huge system with amps, separate sub woofers, tweeters, etc. Just trying to replace the current portable battery powered radio/Ipod station my wife likes to bring along that's used during long idle zones or hanging on the surface waiting for divers.

First, see http://www.thehulltruth.com/5397757-post4.html for how I would go about this.

Second, if you insist on a unit without a CD transport (tho' the ones mentioned in that other post ARE water-tight; and the electronics box would provide still more protection, to the point that I would not worry about it), see http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...655094540.html.

I put a PolyPlanar MR45D in my previous boat. It has a USB connection which you can plug in the iPOD but no CD. Like you, I didn't want a CD player that I would never use. I think they don't make them anymore but there might be some old stock around. It worked just fine for what you need.

Thanks, that's exact;y what I was looking for. Seems like they do still make them....I googled them and found several places that had them in the $130 range.

Yup. Good value in my opinion. I might buy one for my current boat because the stereo doesn't have an auxillary input so I can't plug in an iPod or Blackberry. Where did you find?

Can't remember which site, just plugged PolyPlanar MR45D into google and it returned multiple results. Didn't buy anything, just glanced them over.

Most all head units have aux imput jacks. Find the head unit you like and get one of these.. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=50204

Plug your ipod or any other MP3 player in and go..
