Default Best thru hull video camera ??

I've searched a read about them all. I'm leaning towards the Airmar CA500 or the Ocean LED Ocean Eyes Thru Hull Camera.

Anyone have experience with both and can sway my decision?

Thanks for the help

Why the through hull? What is the reason behind wanting a camera? I have an older style drop down camera on a tether, mainly used for checking bottom makeup, and it is the best thing ever. The thru hull wouldn't be of much use for bottom in 100' of water.

I mainly Freedive. I figure it'll show me the vis before I get in. And in wintertime or in the Keys I'll see the structure from the boat. Might even help looking for lobster holes.

I have a drop down, but by the time I'd get it out and set up, someone has already gone down and looked. I want one I can use while slowly moving over the structure.

I see. Mine is used strictly to verify bottom structure. I know a few guys have the Ocean LED eyes installed and they record it for verification of fish catches during billfishing tournaments.

Here's what you would be seeing:

I don't remember which brand I have (but think its Ocean LED, since I have their lights), and my biggest complaint is that it is worthless unless carefully cleaned (normal bottom cleaning isn't good enough) within a day (or hours) before, since a little bit of underwater growth is enough to obscure the image. Looking at the Airmar site, I now see that the camera portion is retractable for easy cleaning. Hopefully that is what I have.

Can anyone update this with current best thru Hull camera experiences? I’m hoping to see bottom in 10-30’ in the Keys and Bahamas.

Also has to connect to a Garmin 7612xsv.

Thanks
