Default SIMRAD Autopilot Upgrade Question

I currently have a SIMRAD AP11 AP and I have an opportunity to buy an AS NEW AP25 Control Unit for a really sweet price.

Question -- can the AP25 simply replace the AP11 and connect to my J3000 or do I have to replace both units ??

The heading sensor and the rudder angle sensor are the same and the pump is compayitble with the newer main unit so I'm hoping I can just swap out the AP11 with the AP25 -- can anyone give me some good news ??

The answer from Simrad is no - I had wanted to update my AP11 to the AP28 head, and was told by them to do so you need a new computer control module; rudder feedback, heading sensor and pump are just fine.

AP25 is using an older generation autopilot computer than AP24/28 but is still too new to be used in your system. AP20, AP21 and AP22 are probably better candidates for you, but I don't have the full overview over the pilots of Robertson heritage, I used the Simrad pilots originating from Navico prior switching to AP24.
