Default How to connect NMEA 0183 to Garmin chartplotters

My boat came with a KVH 1000 Azimuth and a Standard Horizon GX1260S VHF, both of which only have a single pair of NMEA 0183 leads (the KVH is a talker and the VHF is a listener). I'm building a NMEA 2000 backbone for my GPS and fuel sensors and will also build the Garmin network with ethernet style cable to network my Garmin 5212, 7212, and GSD 24. So what's the best way to patch in the KVH and VHF? Do I get a NMEA 0183 cable from either MFD and tie in that way or is there a way to patch in directly to the NMEA 2000 network? The Garmin NMEA 2000 handbook doesn't show 0183 inputs...

I still need to work on the KVH as it's showing a lo-bat error but a quick check said it was getting 12.0v. Since I don't have an autopilot, I assume the KVH is more of a backup compass and won't really add to the chartplotters functionality? The VHF needs the GPS input for the DSC so I definitely want that hooked up.

It's all in the Garmin manual here...on pg.12

http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/GP...Install_EN.pdf

Then you can set your chartplotter to Bridge your 0183 data to the N2K here... pg 118 to 121. Bridging is on Pg.121

http://static.garmincdn.com/pumac/GP...ries_OM_EN.pdf

You will have added functionality from the KVH sentencing for MARPA and to orient the map overlay at zero to slow speeds.

If you need some Garmin 0183 wires let me know. I have too many.

Ethan- Thanks for the reply. Since I bought my chartplotters used, I downloaded the user manual but not installation manaul. Didn't realize the installation manual will just about answer every question I have. If you have a NMEA 0183 cable for a 5xxx or 7xxx chartplotter, I'll buy it off ya. I'll PM ya for it.
