The JL's almost eliminate the need for a sub. But you will need to power them correctly to get the correct sound...they are definitely one of the cleanest speakers I've ever heard.

JL and audiopipe aren't even in the same leauge. I would caution depending on where your speakers are......., in cabin/ outside. In enclosed space you will notice sound quality a lot better, in open air outside use it is hard to distinguish between a $2500+ JL System and an under $1000 system with qualtiy name equipment.

I wouldnt put Audiopipe in the same class as JL, however there are a couple 8" out there that I would recomend over the JL. The Rockford Fosgate 8" M282 and the new Wet Sounds 808 Series. Both are awesome but the new wetsounds are even cooler because they are a true convertible meaning you can have the tweeter mounted in the center of the grill like a coaxial or move it somewhere else and use it as a component system! Pretty cool!

From personal experience on my boat, I had jl 7.7 and i am now running the audiopipe 8" and it sounds just as good for a fraction of the cost. i have heard many boats at the sand bar with audiopipe sound systems and they sound awesome. I fished the grove slam in miami and met Dj Laz. He has a 42' hydra sport with an entire audiopie marine system. hands down blew away all the jl sea vee's that came by him at the dock.

From personal experience, I've heard both systems and they both sound amazing with installed and tuned correctly. I've heard some JL and Audiopipe systems that didn't sound great but just needed some adjustments to the amplifiers. this doesn't mean that either brand is bad. It's just a matter of preference and money. How much are you willing to spend.

I recently installed a pair of 6.5" Audiopipe speakers on my jetski. Yes its a jetski with a sound system. With the money I saved on the speakers and amplifier I upgraded my battery. I got a Odyssey PC625.

Here's a link to the video on their FB pg. Hear it for yourself. This is just my two cents.

I cannot speak to longevity, but I love my audiopipe speakers. I have two 8", four 6 1/2", 2 tweeters, and two 10" subs.

The boat is beyond loud, never have to crank it up all the way, the sound is great, and the price was fantastic.

Although I clean my boat and maintain it very hard, I use my boat heavily and put it through all kinds of sh*t, so I love that I can replace any of the stereo equipment without breaking the bank at any moment!

Do Audiopipe come without grilles? Just curious. Cannot find a picture of one with a grill.

I've personally never seen any of their speakers without grills. Although I did notice that this year they changed the grills on their speakers. They look much better than the old style grill.

Im not going to recommend either, obviously I'd be biased (see signature). If you decide on JL, please give us a chance to get you a price.

I would go with JL, based on personal experience. I know of several boats that have had to replace audio pipe with JL's

However, the best speaker on the market today I would say is WetSounds
