Default Picked Up a New Handheld VHF

Last week while on vacation I stopped by the local West Marine since my buddy wanted to pick up a couple of items for his boat. While I was waiting I came across a Standard Horizon HX-851 sitting on the open box table. I checked it out and everything was in the box and appeared as if it had never even been taken out of the box. The best part was I got it for $199 w/full warranty! Sweet!! When we got back to the house I gave my buddy the old HX-280 that I had been using. I really wanted a GPS handheld and feel like I got a smoking deal. I got to use it for a couple of days while we were fishing in place of my fixed mount unit and have to say the sound quality was very impressive for a handheld. Overall, it is a very nice radio!

So are you saying I could have ordered it and paid $17.00 more including shipping? I paid $199 out the door! Considering this was West Marine it was a very good deal!

I doubt you would find a better deal anywhere for that radio. That was a good deal! Heck, the cheapest price on Ebay is almost 240. Google shopping is ...$199.

Not tryin to rain on your parade - good price on a good radio - but West Marine is very good at making their clearance prices look like deals of the century when they aren't.

As long as you knew fair market pricing and West's return policy on open-box clearance items before buying yours.....

Last I heard North Carolina charges tax! Unless you purchased the unit in Delaware or New Hampshire.....You paid the state their share in addition to $199.00
