Default Airmar P66 transducer

Just installed this tranducer and noticed that it rotates upward on the mounting bracket. Is this a normal characteristic? I would think it would flip up everytime I hit a wave at higher speeds?

It's normal to protect it from hitting an obstruction in the water. If it is flipping up on its own otherwise you should tighten the tension adjustment screw/bolt on the hinge of the bracket.

Also..make sure it does extend too far below the hull....if too.. far then more forces affect it.

I had a p66 with my prior FF, awesome transom mount transducer you have.
Been a while since i installed it, but recall it requiring a decent amount of force to snap down into place.
After that, it takes a a good amount of pressure to unsnap it back up.

I installed it a little deeper then the pic above, leading edge closer aligned with hull bottom, trailing edge dipped down just a bit more.

The little Airmar P66 is a workhorse. This is my 2nd unit (2 boats) & it works well enough for my needs. Remember to use an anti-fouling paint (like MDR's version is soild) to keep the growth off the paddle wheel & the whole unit. I wonder just how long the P66 has been around? We purchased our 1st boat in 2004 with a Garmin 2006C & a P66.
