Default Replacing Raystar 105 with Raystar 125

My gps antenna got wet (the Raystar 105) the top had a crack in it and it filled up with water.
my equipment is Raytheon nav 398gps
Raytheon r21xx Raystar scan radar
Raytheon Raychart 601xx Electronic Charting

I bought a raystar 125 gps to replace the raystar 105 that got wet. the old antenna had six wires going to it and the new 125 has only 5 i have heard that it will work with the raytheon nav 398gps but have been unable to get it to communicate with the 398.
My question is does anyone know if i can use the 125 in place of the 105 and if so how would i wire it in as i cant seem to figure it out or would it be easier to buy an evermore sa320 and will the evermore work? all the electronics work great even though the are old.
any help would be greatly appreciated

I've never heard of a Raystar 105. Is there any chance you mean a Raystar 108? The Raystar 125 should work with your system but you will probably have to make manual connections and not simply plug in the GPS receiver.

Go to Raymarine.com and get the manual for the Raystar 125 and whichever device you had your previous antenna connected to. They will describe the NMEA connections or Seatalk connections you need to make. There are too many variables to tell you which color wire goes to which. NMEA out on the Raystar 125 goes to NMEA in on your plotter. Or just use Seatalk, it's easier.

Default antenna

when i went down to my marina yesterday i looked and my old receiver was a raystar 105 i looked in the book of the 398 and it said it could used either a 108 or 105. at any rate i hooked it up like you had said and the raystar 125 shows that it has a gps fix and is transmitting in nema but will not talk to the nav 398. i don't know much about this but does the protocol have anything to do with it the old antenna used three letter protocols and the new antenna the 125 uses four letter protocols. also the evermore 320 manual looks like it will hook up to the old antenna wires. i was hoping to not have to run a new wire to the 398 i was hoping to just tie in to the old wire. do you know if that would work? Thanks, Larry
