Default Garmin repair for 5212

I bought a used 5212 off E-bay and it would never acquire a satellite fix or show the sonar signal. Sent it to a local shop who found a cracked circuit board where the network plug connects and the shop shipped it to Garmin. Will Garmin charge me the flat rate to fix it ($695) or do they do piece-meal repairs like this? FWIW, the tech at the local shop showed me the last date it worked which was June of last year, so the seller may have some 'splanin to do.

Flat rate plus the markup from your local guy.

But you already knew that.

Sounds like you and bubba need to make a house call to that ebay seller.

Yep, flat rate. I sent a message to the seller and made him a pretty reasonable offer if he comes through in short order. Otherwise, its off to EBay buyer protection land.

Was this the 5212 that was listed on ebay a few weeks back and listed as NOT WORKING?

Too bad the seller AJCONCRETE CUTTING in Long Island is a deadbeat who won't make things right. I offered to split the Garmin fee with him and zip, zero, nada from him. Its a week too late to get help from E-bay (I waited hoping the seller would do the right thing, my bad) and now all I can do is tell everyone who asks what a lowlife he is.

Check to see if he really owns a boat. He might have stolen it from someone. If so, call cops

July 10th. Missed it by 2 days! Did you pay through paypal using a credit card? If so, start a chargeback.

You still have small claims court. Sue in your state, he will have to appear or they will give you a summary judgement and issue a bench warrant against the guy.

Usually that is enough to get their attention.

Do not pay the credit card bill to pay-pal as they to have buyer protection. As you have the cost to repair from a tech. you will win this hands down.
