Default 585 driving me nuts

Guys I am having a problem with my new Sea Vee 26. My 585 will work great with the motors off but when they are running I get a lot of clutter and it will not mark fish at all. Was out in the deep water the other day and it would not even get the bottom in 700 ft. I have used this machine before and others like it 600l,582,667 but have never had any problems like this its driving me nuts. I am ready to throw the thing over board, any help would be great. The transducer is a 744 or 525 msd thru hull 600w, its mounted in the keel on the flat of a 26 Sea Vee. I can paint the bottom in under 200 ft at any speed. I was thinking it was the transducer but it will mark fish well when drifting. Maybe I am getting Alternator feed back or some thing along those lines. I would think since Sea Vee's wiring is top notch and they wired everything it would be fine. I am stumped.

Thanks in advance

Josh

If you can hook the FCV585 directly to a single isolated power source such as a stand alone battery that will help isolate any bad feed into the power line.
On cases like yours we simply hook the head unit to a small 12 battery...you would be surprised how that cleans up the signal....and helps isolate the problem.
Then if that is your problem you can either go to a new line or find what is wrong with your old one.

If you still have problems..

Check the transducer cable....check for wear etc..and make sure it is not against other electrical lines etc.
How old is the transducer and cable?

If you have a P66 (Or other ducer) available connect that and just hold over the side..see if you still get the same reading.

Gil, I have been trying to get a p66 to do that at the advice of airmar. Transducer and cable is from 2003 as is the boat. It also lost its speed and temp about 2 weeks ago. I am thinking of changing it just hard as I am in the middle of my charter season and getting the old one out will be hard as its recessed up in the hull. I will look for other wires that could cause some issue. All the main battery wires are in the chase on the other side of the boat. When I turn on the key I see a lot of clutter on the screen and I have played with the machine. I run it in manual mode both gain and range, have played with the tvg, tx, clutter. Its a simple machine to run. I will look at the wires that are near the transducer wire and report back.

Thanks for helping
Josh

Hey Gil. Thanks for the help on my 585. I figured it out SV ran the main power and alternator wires with the transducer cable so when the motor is running it gives me a lot of clutter or noise on the screen. I will be looking you up for a new 1kw very soon.

Thanks for all your help
