Default Mixed NMEA 2000 sensors: 2 Fuel Tanks (1=EP-65R and 2=EP-15)

Hello All
I am trying to figure out the installation of my NMEA 2000 network and my 2 fuel tank sensors. I have two tanks. Both tanks are using NMEA 2000 fuel level senders. However, main tank is using a EP-65R sensor and the auxillary tank is using a EP-15 sensor to relay info to network.
I am tyring to undertand why network was set up this way. I have an issue where both tanks are reading "full" when they are empty. Not sure if I mistakenly hit a recalibration or something when I was winterizing it last fall. I am unable to determine why both tanks would read full. I can understand emtpy readings if actually full but not the other way around. Is there any reason why someone would use two different NMEA sensors.I know the EP-15 is no longer sold.
Second question- is it better to reconfigure full tanks off the LMF200 or LMF400.
