You have 6500BTU unit in the cabin and want to add A/C to the helm area, right? Best bet is a second unit, installed under a seat in the helm area. I think you'd want no less than 7,000 BTUs, perhaps 10,000 BTUs as the heat gain is significant. Size may depend on your generator size, if you have one. Assuming you don't it would run from shore power. Installation of an A/C unit is a sizable job, but you may be able to Tee off the existing through hull and strainer, perhaps with an upgraded pump, to supply seawater to the second A/C unit. Run water lines, power, wire the thermostat, install breaker, new discharge through hull and you're close. A return vent, supply vent and some ducting. done.

I've installed three such units, a 16,000 BTU unit under the passenger seat of my 3300 Open and a pair of 12,000 BTU units in the helm enclosure of my 3700 Open.
