Default Best price for garmin 740s

Hey boater people!!!!!! I have made up my mind and am going to add a garmin 740s to my new boat!!!!! I also want to buy it from west marine( ease of warranty issues, basically can swap it out if there is a problem) so I need to find the cheapest price that they will price match..... Also what is a good transducer to add with it?

BOE marine has it for $1499 and West Marine does as well. That seems to be the going price for the 740s from an authorized dealer. You will also want to pick up a transducer to go with it as well.

Found the unit for 1,299 on the web and West Marine price matched it and I also got another 4% off with the West Marine coupons. Do a search on 740S to find the lowest price.

Call the West Marine in Ft. Meyers Beach Florida, San Carlos Blvd. 239-267-3116
Ask for Big Mike (that is what his name tag says) and tell him you need his bottom price... (Upper 1200 range)
Tell him the guy who he sold a 740S who then went out front and then tried to get into the wrong red pickup, sent you..
(long funny story - good thing her husband didn't have a gun)

Look @ Semperfifishing or MB Marine Electronics. I purchased a 720S (no maps) because I'm getting a large G2 Vision card. I paid $1200.00 for the 720S w/ free shipping from MB Marine (good guy) 720S & the 740S are the same, just w/o the maps. I'm sure you'll purchased the G2 Vision card, so why bother paying the extra coin for the 740S?

You'll get the full warranty from both dealers. I did a qucik online registration & called Garmin to make sure. As long as you don't buy it from eBay...You're all set. WM is a ripoff IMHO (Yes....I hate them!)

Since we are an actual dealer for what we sell we have to abide by Garmin's price policies. I would love to be able to put an ad online for the 740S for less than $1499, but as an actual dealer we can't do that. With that said, I'm happy to match whatever pricing you can find.

Wanted to thank everyone today for your help! I picked up the garmin at west marine got price matched and was able to return a few things to get the price down even lower!!!!! I still need a transducer? The guy at west marine wanted to sell me a ducker for 52 bucks he said that 1kw would cause too many issues in the gulf in shallower water?????? Either way I need to the transom mount duces tommorrow? For everyone with a 740s which transducer did you go with?

Actually...many uses for 1 KW transducers in shallow water as long as they have wide cone angles.
For example you can use the Airmar Tm270W is shallow water...excellent in fact.
The B164 also a good choice for shallow to mid depths.
Many sonars can automatically regulate output power depending upon depth...so the power is not an issue.
What is great about the 1kw transducers is their exceptional sensitivity due to the fact they have multiple elements.

And if all you want or need is a 600 watt single element transducer the P66 has excellent cone angles and is very reliable.
A very good choice for shallow to mid water use...and not expensive...and you can get one almost anywhere.

Also for shallow water is the in hull P79.

I'd wait a couple of weeks. Garmin loves to throw in rebates any special deals this time of year. I think last year there was a $300 rebate for buying a garmin with vision chip, essentially giving you the chip for free. spring events are days or weeks away. The 740 is a fantastic unit, and I believe has been a game changer for current marine electronics. As someone whose raymarine e7 arrived this week, I don't think raymarine would have even thought about releasing a 7 inch touchscreen if garmin hadn't sold so many damn 740's. You will be happy with your purchase once you get it.

Price matching is tricky, and I wonder how much longer it will last. There are too many sketchy websites out there that offer rock bottom prices yet are not authorized dealers. Find a decent site, bring it to West if you like, and buy their extened warranty if that's what you're interested in. They will take care of you, and Garmin's customer service is second to none. Its a big factor why many of my customers won't buy navico, the support is non existent at times. I could tell you many stories of the ridiculous situations that customers have come in with only to have garmin replace units at no cost. they also keep items in stock, which too many companies never seem to do.
