Default Garmin 5212 screen issue

I'm having an issue with my Garmin 5212. The touchscreen seems to spontaneously scroll West continuously until I restart. The screen has always been kept clean and looks new (i.e. no solvents/ammonia cleaners etc) It's my understanding that these work based on a triangulation of the slight electrical charge in the user's finger, so I'd imagine there is a pixel or sensor going bad? The system software has been updated as the Garmin updates have become available since 2008. Have you guys experienced this with Garmin touchscreens?

dont they have a function to calibrate the screen? id try that. but you are right it could just be going bad. Garmin is excellent though. If you are under warranty they will fix it if you are out of warranty its a flat rate to basically send you a refurbished one or replace whats wrong with yours.

If the screen will not hold a calibration it will need to be sent off to Garmin for repair. Actually, $625 and they will send you a remanufactured unit(unless its under warranty). Mine acts up sporatically and will soon need to be sent in for exchange.
