Default Speakers need to get warmed up?? How to store?

I turned on the stereo for the first time in 3 months and the speakers sounded awful. As if they were blown.

However, about an hour later after running around - a friend jumped on the boat and commented they sounded good. I realized they sounded 100% better.

Do marine speakers need to get warmed up and allow the material to get flexible again?

Is there any spray, gel, or conditioner that can be put on the speakers to delay the aging process?

Yes, but I am certainly not going to risk playing Barry Manilow and unknowingly signal in "the other team."
