Default Alternator Whine

Installed a JL M700/5 amp, it replaced a sony, now I have an alternator whine that I didn't have before. Head unit & speakers are the same. Engine is a Mercruiser 350 Mag. Solutions?

Did you change the wiring? Do the RCA cables run with the power cables? Are you sure you have a good ground on the amplifier?

The RCA's do cross the power wires @ the amp, wiring was not changed, the power cables are really large, good connections, ground etc, running directly from the battery.

you need to make sure you have a good ground. Keep the rcas away from any wires that carry a big load. If you can, get power from your head unit and amp from the same location. JL amps are sensitive and produce a lot of power so you have to be clean with the install.

Default Alternator whine

Not sure about your wiring of the system, My alternators have capacitors, 2 on each alternator for solving any noise issues. I have Crusader engines and standard 50 amp alternators ( I think their 50 amps, could be 60)
