Default Transducers

Need input on a new transducer. I'm going to upgrade my transducer from a 600W to a 1 KW. I currently have a transom mount transducer and am considering installing the new transducer as a thru hull. I have heard that there is little difference and some actually prefer the transom mount. I do have interference issues on my transom mount transducer occasionally when I'm in very low water. Any opinions?

My boat is a 30 foot center console with twin outboards.

What sonar system are you using?
When you say very low water..how deep?
Just going from a 600 watt to a 1Kw on a transom mount will increase your performance.
And almost anytime you go from a transom mount to a thru the hull you will gain in performance..that is because the thru the hull is in cleaner water most of the time.

Besides a thru hull, there is the option of an in hull M260.

I have a Furuno. I usually get interference in 2 1/2 to 3 feet of water. It happens a lot when I leave the dock at low tide. Once I'm running it works fine.

I'm very hesitant about putting a hole in the bottom of the boat, complicating it is that it is a cored hull.
