Default Speaker Location?

Redoing my stereo in the Bay Boat next month and I have one final issue to decide on.

Here is the system lay out that is a lock.

2 JL 10inch subs together mounted in the rear raised deck firing into the leaning post.

2 JL 7.7's on opposite ends of the rear deck firing toward the bow.

2 JL 7.7's mounted in the rod lockers on opposite sides firing back at the rear deck.

Hope the above makes sense.

Final decision??? Where to place the last pair of 7.7's?? Two options. At the bottom of the console firing knee level. Or in the gunnels with 1inch starboard spaces firing in between the console and the leaning post below knee level.

I am leaning toward the gunnels, but I wonder if firing at the knees from the console will provide better sound while running?

Any feedback on actual experience on either placement is greatly appreciated.

Gunnels for sure. Your knees are a lot lower than your ears so moving them a little further away but aiming them toward you will def give you the best results.

MB thanks for the comment. I am planning on getting the starboard custom cut at a cost of $90 for two spacers. Is ther a better option for quality spacers? Thanks.

Well it aint gonna be lacking for sure That's a good amount of thump for a bay boat. Mine rocks, and you will have more muscle than me I would have gone with gunnel mount on mine, but mine are slap full foam injected, and no way to wire them up at all.

The factory installed my remote VHF speaker near my knee.

Due to my age and too many concerts when I was young, the hearing in my knee is not so good, so I put a VHF remote speaker pointing at my head.

But my kick-butt sound system, w/ 2,500 watts has NO problem w/ sound quality, regardless of speaker location. The people on shore start dancing when we approach.

The speakers producing the low-frequency sounds can be placed at any convenient location, the high-frequency sounds should be pointed at the listener's heads, as much as possible.

Your 1,800 watts is over the top! I blame our daughter. She came aboard and told me our old stereo sucked. Now it doesn't. Plus she has now two places to plug-in her new-fangled iPhone.

But last time we went out, she was playing song after song from that thing until I told her she was done. "No, not select the next track, done."

Then I started cranking the Who, Loverboy and other classic rock, for me, my BIL and our guests to enjoy. After all, I work for the weekend...

No, not yet, we are working on getting some of those things into production but nothing is available yet.

Probably would be a good money maker. The plastics guy I contacted in Ft. Lauderdale is a one man shop and he says he gets these orders all the time.....must be a good market if enough people are even finding him for the requests!
