Default Garmin 740 with SH GX2100

SH web site has a wiring diagram for connecting the 2 together.
http://http://www.standardhorizon.co...lication%2Fpdf

My questions:
Is this a straight wiring connection?
Or does it need NMEA 2000 network cables?

Any recommendations for a VHF antenna for a 21' bowrider?
I will be adding Garmin XM weather. Is there a minimum distance to keep these 2 seperated?

I'm learning a lot here. Just hope I can remember it later

Thank You ALL

I have the exact setup on my Whaler. Here's what it looks like. My SH GX2100 is connected to an 8' Digital antenna. Try to keep 3' between your vhf antenna and Garmin 740.

This is my previous helm setup .....

Current look .....

Just what the Dr. ordered. Thank You.

Do you also have Garmin XM weather, like the GXM51?

Here's what your GX51 antenna stuff looks like out of the box.
