Default Raymarine C90w screen turns on but is blank.

A friend of mine has a C90w and it turns on but the screen goes blank? Any idea as to what it could be...

I dont know much about electronics in general but the one thing I am VERY familiar with is Raymarine's C-Series screwed up or non-working screen! Here is what I know - the C-Series has a connection at the top of the screen, in the middle. It is notorious for coming loose and doing exactly what you said. Mine went to a few multicolor vertical bands on a black screen or sometimes totally blank. I had 2 different units and had the same issue with both. The last one I was able to "fix" (ashamed to say this) by solidly bumping it with my fist at the top of the screen. It would then come back on and work for 1-2 weeks and then go out again. I would bump it again and ... back to working. Finally got tired of it and bought a new E90W.

My advice is for him to take the unit to a respected marine electronics repair/install/dealer and have them check that connection. Any Raymarine repair place is well aware of what it is. Tell them the screen went blank and they will shake their head in acknowledgment. They can resolder or reseat the connection. Cost should be around $100 or so???

Or night mode. I was going to say that of course. Either hit it with your hand or night mode.

You have a seatalk failure in there.
How is the 12v getting to the GPS antenna? Are you using the red seatalk wire from the C70 or another 12v source?

What other seatalk devices are in your network?

I have no idea how the power is getting to the GPS antenna. All I know is the GPS wire is spliced to the Black Seatalk wire going into the back of the screen. I dont have anything else hooked up to seatalk. Just have C70 screen, raydome,GPS antenna,DSM 300.

your yellow and black (connected on same wire to the 70 as the red) are your two talking wires. Check them by disconnecting and reconnecting. Then make sure the others are wired as follows :

red and green of GPS to RED from C70
black and brown to BLACK from C70
yellow to YELLOW from the C70
