Default Airmar shoot thru hull

I am a weekend warrior and want to hook my garmin 440s up on my "new to me" seacraft. It has an older garmin 2010c that I plan to keep to use as my chartplotter. I will use the 440s as only a sounder. My question is whether or not the p79 shoot thru hull is any good or not. Is it accurate and reliaable? Any feedback would be great...thanks guys!

The P79 will work fine in that boat and is a very reliable transducer.

The P79 , B60 and P66 have about the same capability in shallow to mid water.

The P79 will have some loss but not all that noticeable in water less than 200'.

How deep do you plan to fish?

Im in tampa so 99% of the time in under 120ft...i am just looking for a decent set up on a budget...so it sounds like the 440s with the p79 is a good bet?

It will indeed fill your needs both in performance and budget.

Ironically, my boat came with a 440s and a P79 shoot through and I am very impressed with the performance of both. From finding structure for tog fishing in 60' of water to marking bluefish and stripers in the rips, it's served me well. It does a fine job reading depth underway as well. I wish the screen was bigger, but it works fine for now- the boat is an 18 and there's only so much room for stuff.
