Default Infinity Kappa vs Clarion CMQ1620R vs Boss Audio 650 speakers

Ok I know you get what you pay for.

I need four 6.5" speakers and an amplifier.

Any comments on any of these speakers. Boss Audio is awfully cheap but actually has a high RMS output rating.

First off what is your budget for the 4 speakers and an amplifier? If money is not the only deciding factor stay away from the boss. The Infinity and Clarion speakers are both OK to me but i know quite a few that like the Infinity more. Check out the links below to get you into a quality amplifier and 4 speakers under $300 by taking advantage of our THT members 20% discount. All you have to do is enter the code "thtdeal" in the coupon box of the shopping cart to get your discount.

Yes they are very good considering the price. I just installed a couple pairs yesterday and the customer was thrilled. They are not equal to a Wet Sounds or JL but at a third the price they are the best sounding economically priced speakers I have used. Thanks

It's an ok set up, Not to take away any sales from MB Marine, but those Fusion speakers are just OK IMHO. If you're on a real "serious" budget, then fine.

Like this set-up better (costs a tad more)

Clarion XN-3410 amp (Clarion makes a solid amp but not a fan of their speakers)

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...on-XN3410.html

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...rine-612M.html

I like the Infinity 612M speakers (although not a serious fan of their looks but that's just me)

Total package:

$219.99 (Clarion XN-3410 amp) @ $219.99
$99.99 (Infinity M612M speakers) x2=$199.98

Total $419.97 shipped.

Please note that MB quoted a 2-channel amp & not a 4-channel. That set-up above is very soild IMHO.

BTW: I am not a seller...Just a boater that's likes his electronics!

Wow Glen those speakers are shot.

MB I see the link you provided was a 2 channel amp. Dont I need a 4 channel and if so do you have a reasonably priced 4 channel?

You do not need a 4 channel amplifier since this amp is 2 ohm stable it can run 2 pairs of speakers. Yes i have basically the same amp in a 4 channel version but it comes with a price increase. Check the link below. Thanks

Using this amp and the same speakers you would be at a bit under $400. If you wanted to step up the speakers and go to the higher end fusions with the 4 channel amplifier you would be around $500. A happy medium would be the 2 channel amplifier and the higher end speakers, this would be the best bang for your buck, check the links below. this setup would run you just at $400 and unless you think you need fader control you dont need a 4 channel amplifier. Thanks

I agree that the clarion speakers are junk. I think the infinity give you the best bang for your buck.

Mine looked like that after twelve years in the sun. The four twelve year old Clarion speakers, in the salon and in the master stateroom are holding up fine.

The Sony XS-MP1620W speakers have been working very well for me. The sound and the volume are outstanding.

The construction on the Sony XS-L100P5M is outstanding. It sounds terrific.

The MB Marine options look very good.
