Default Bluetooth in the boat?

Has anyone hooked up a parrot bluetooth system to their stereo in the boat? Seems like it would be a good way to keep the cell phone in the dry box but still get and make calls.

It should work fine. Lots of us use BT receivers to send music to the stereo via bluetooth. Glen E has a write-up about at least one. The one from Blackberry that I put on my boat.

Not sure that is what I want. Will that allow me to make and receive calls like the Parrot systems?
Thanks!

By the way, this would be for a pilot house boat. I don't think it would work well on my cc with all of the noise from the wind.

why? - works fine on mine at 35 mph...but maybe we are talking diff here...the above allows you to stream music/pandora from your phone to stereo and mutes music when call comes in..then you use the phone for the call...

The Cobra Bluetooth Cell phone thing looks pretty good as well. No real world usage yet, but i picked one up on Ebay and messed around with it the other night. Bluetooth phone connectivity for phone calls, dialing, etc. PTT or VOX as well. In addition, it streams your music and has a line out. You can control music from the handset and it plays through your stereo. Also can use it as as a loudspeaker. Pretty good for 50 bucks from ebay.

Yes Glen, I want to keep my phone in the dry box and not take it out.
That is why I want to use the parrot.

I use my Simrad WR 20, it costs a bunch more but it's a handheld autopilot, bluetooth cell phone, vhf and chartplotter too.

the blackberry stereo gateway will not do what you're looking for. it is to stream audio to a stereo, not make remote calls, so ignore all that.

unfortunately i've nevered tried any of the remote call systems so can't help you there...
