Default DSI Filter install location in proximity to battery

I got a quick question about a Lowrance DSI Filter. I see in the diagram its to be connected to an inline fuse, then to the battery. Just looking at the diagram, it looks like it is connected about 12-16 inches from the battery.

I am mounting an Elite 4X up by the rolling motor and i did not know that if i connect the filter to closer to the head unit than the fuse back at the battery, would that cause any issues. There would be about 8-9 feet of wire from the battery and then the DSI Filter would be connected, thus putting it about 2 feet from the head unit.

My question is, does it matter how close or far from the battery you connect the DSI Filter? Would it affect performance of the head unit being connected 8-9 feet away from the battery.
