Default New 21/22 CC' with a budget of $7500

I live in Miami & the keys with a budget of $7,500 to spend.

What should be my plan on purching electronics? and who should stall them?

Do I need radar for a 21 foot CC boat?

Thanks for answering my dumb questions...

I don't want this to be one of "those" THT replies, but help us out a little more..... We've got the general type of boat and a budget, but where will you be boating/fishing? What type of fish will you be targeting? Without that type of info it will be hard for anyone to offer up any more than their own personal favorite brand of electronics.......

Electronics are a personal preference. As far as radar goes, only you can answer that question. Do you go out at night, in fog, etc.
Personally, I'm putting a Raydome on my 23 footer because of Fog, and I go out at night. Plus, it only cost an extra $900 for the antenna. Cheap insurance.

If the discussion of radar is for collision avoidance, then I'd agree with Fcal that they can be cheap (well, relatively speaking) insurance and with the rebates on Lowrance and Simrad Broadband radars right now, its an even better deal. You can get the Lowrance 3G radar for just under $1000 after the rebate....

If you are looking for something to find birds when fishing off-shore, then you need a different radar - again - comes down to fishing style and boating locations....

Is there much fog in the summer time in south Florida? Mostly just planing to fish arround 10 miles off shore.

There's a lot of good stuff on the market that will fill the bill for $7,500.
My advice would be to give serious thought to an auto pilot. I had one installed on a new BW 23T a year and a half ago and can't believe I fished before for years and thousands of hours without one.

This is what I am thinking so far... (Garmin setup)

Plotter 5212 $3000
Radar GMR24 $2000
Sounder GSD26 $2000
Transd B256 $ 800
---------------------------------
Total $7,800 + Installation

So now I am missing?

Radar GMR18 $1,199
Weather GXM51 $ 700
Auto Pilot tr-1 $2,500

Which VHF radio do I need to work with this setup? 200/300?

Thats a hell of a set up right there!
Also look into the new raymarine e and c series. Its the exact same price for an e125 and it looks pretty kick ass.
BTW you can find a b265 for $800?

Just curious as to what kind of boat you have. That is a big electronics budget for a 21'. And I say that in a good way. When I bought my 21' CC new I wish I would have been able to equip it that well. Good luck with your new boat. Half of the fun is making it like you want it.

Pretty sure most 21/22ft center consoles don't have the room at the helm to mount a 12" screen.

I would also say save your money and get a GSD24, not a GSD26. Not to be that guy, but someone taking advice on a website from strangers about what electronics to buy will arguably not take full advantage of the latest/greatest technology. On that note, I would also opt for the smaller GMR18.
