Etec-
Have you seen it? I saw it yesterday at the boat show and it's pretty amazing. It's a huge step forward from everything else out there. Multi touch control, ability to control with my iPad and even view my fish finder on my iPhone while I'm on the deck away from the display.

I was happy with my MFD12, but I think I'm going to upgrade to this unit. It's a lot faster than my MFD12 and it's a 14 inch display that basically fits in the same spot as my current unit. Plus it still works with all of my current sensors. I think if you actually saw it, you wouldn't say 3 years too late. Maybe they weren't first with a touch screen, but the definitely did it right!

They said delivery at the end of spring. I questioned them on that, based on the delay when 3D came out and they seemed confident that it would be in before summer. Price is $5600 for the 9 inch and $7600 for the 14 inch. Furuno may be late to the dance, but they always seem to bring the prettiest chick!

Sometimes I think Furuno just plans it this way...they let everyone else show up at the dance...and then like to make their grand entrance so everyones eyes are on them.

It's like waiting for the main attraction.

Can it be on the same network with the Navnet 3D on a master-slave configuration sharing the same sensors?

Made it to the show show today and asked the same question. Yes it can connect to the same network and share GPS, radar, and sounder. I'll probably replace one of my MFD12s with a 14.
My initial reaction was HOLY CARP!! This is one sweet device. Like it was said before they might not have been the first to arrive at the dance, but they came with the hottest chick.

I am thinking of doing the same but I'll wait first for the dust to settle.

There definitely not 3 years to late, nobody else has the two finger touch screen that I know of. I also saw the units and they are sweet! We just recently upgraded but if we hadn't these would definitely be at the top of the list.

It is better and more functional than the others... for now at least ...
The point is that it is just software and others will follow soon with software upgrades.
I'm surprised that Furuno doesn't have a chirp or side scan solution. Not so much for solid state radar since they are still capitalizing on their HD radar success.

It would be interesting to see if Furuno is trying to scale down their searchlight tech (as opposed to the current side scan offerings on the market) for the consumer market... those units are AMAZING.

wow this screen looks amazing, i did a google search on the price and the 14" came in between $5900 and $6200.

i looked at the sizes for the raymarine E120W and the navnet TZT14 and for a recessed mounth they are both VERY close in size, the TZT14 is about a 1/2 inch wider then the E120w, so for those of you thinking about upgrading they are very similar.

2 Raymarine e125s come out to be about the same price. They are almost as impressive of machines as the furuno, plus theyre coming out with multi-touch later this year. I dont know why you'd go with their 14" when you could get 2 Raymarine 12" for the same price ;?

To each his own, but I found the new RM to be the least intuitive of them all.
I had a chance to play with all of the MFDs from the major players at the show without a salesman bothering me just for that reason. I rarely got lost on the Furuno but had to ask for help from RM a few times. After the TZ even the Garmin felt clunky.

I for one will definitely be upgrading from my MFD-8 to the new 9" TZ touch.

I love the fact I can still use the roto key while underway and am a firm believer in a hard control being a better way to change displays/ input while underway, and that a touchscreen is friendlier when at rest.

The new course plotting looks super slick and my passengers will love having the ability to play while underway from an Ipad.

One thing isnt clear however is wether or not software upgrades will be wireless as well.
Not having to screw around with chips of any density is a huge upgrade from the nn3d series and I should be able to park the thing in my driveway and just have it update.

A speed bump wil be a welcome improvement on the smaller units. It gets just a bit pokey when you have everything on right now.
