Default standard horizon chartplotter

Did a search on here with not much success. What's the low down on these CPN units 700i and 1010i from Standard Horizon? Anyone have one? Seems like a lot of bang for the buck.

Beer19,

The CPN series has not been officially released for sale, however the CPN700i and CPN1010i are on display at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show in the Standard Horizon booth# 353. We should be delivering these products in late December 2011.

If anyone has any interest spoke with Standard today and was told February these units will be available. I'm really anxious to see this unit. Seems like a good deal. My seahunt 232 does not have a large area for flush mount, but checked the dimensions and since it has a sort of wide screen shape the 10in screen will even fit. I have been debating the Garmin 740 vs 4208 and just thought the 740 screen too small and the 4208 having to add the box to expand for radar and weather etc., but this Standard horizon unit has got me leaning towards it. I have been putting this off several years because I have a stand alone FF furuno and just used my handheld gps waiting for new technology. Hopefully it turns out to be a good unit, can't beat the features it has for under $1900 I think.

Getting a little closer to Feb... Any new details, shipping status, or other info on CPN1010i?

Hoping it and the bracket will fit in the short cutout opening on my Prowler. (Think I have around 9.5"H. Not much room for any non-widescreen display on a bracket.)

February 22nd (This coming Tuesday) is the release date (confirmed by SH) Why does everthing get released on a Tuesday? Looks like you can pick one up for a tad under $1900.00 plus Defender is selling the FF525 (Sounder) for the best price I can find ($218.49) until the end of the Miami Boat Show (8AM 2/21 sale ends)

http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?...274&id=1211085

I am considering this unit or the Raymarine C97.

I wouldn't count on it just yet. Someone at SH I have talked to said March. Someone at the show said the SH booth is saying April. Yet another says it's a glorified media play with a chartplotter and the first thing the people at the booth wanted to show them was the mp3 player. Read that for what it's worth, but I have been looking forward to this unit for a long time, but now I am not so sure.

Gonzo: Seems like you really don't know the CPN1010i that well. Yes...You can hook-up the chartplotter to your Head-Unit. In addition, you can use the back USB drive. I looked it over very well @ the New England Boat Show & I walked away saying "That's one fine unit" I spent over an hour @ the SH booth. I only real contender is the new Raymarine E series & that will cost you $500-$600 more & it's a 9" screen vs. 10.2" Right now I'm on the fence with which one to purchase. Both a very nice.

UPDATE: Called SH today (they were off yesterday) Anyway...You're correct. Now they are saying the end of March or even later. SH needs to get their heads out of their asses. This should have been released 9 months ago!

I received mine CPN1010i already after many months of getting the run around, and have used it twice. The screen is beautiful with all the features described in the SH website. The install was very easy and the unit powered up uneventfully. I prevoisly owened a Standard Horzion CP1000C with a Sounder and the GPS antenna already installed. These hooked up perfectly to the CPN1010i I did purchase the C-MAP 4D with the Value Added Data of the Hi Res Bathy. Now some issues I have noticed and hopefully Someone from Standard Horizon can guide me on these.

1) The screen doese seem very slugglish and at times freezes for a couple of seconds, very annoying cause you start pressing other buttons and nothing happens.

2) The responsiveness of the touchscreen sometimes does not even recognize the touch input and I must resort to using the manual control to select my options.

I did purchase the C-MAP 4D card and have used two different versions. One without the Bathy and another one with the bathy actived. I did notice that when the bathy was actived the unit got to the point that I had to just turn it off because the freezing of the screen was driving us crazy. I inserted the the card without the Bathy activated and the screen still froze but not to the pint of having to turn it off.

Is there any solution to this.

Thanks in advance.

lcapo,

Did you have success in fixing the issues you describe? I was thinking about Standard Horizon myself but sounds like there are problems.

I know this thread is 1.5+ years old, but has anyone been using the 1010i? I am thinking about replacing my dying 1000C.

Any reviews of the 1010i?

I bought a used CPF 390 I believe 2 years ago for my 22 Sea Hunt bayboat. It was like brand new.I flush mounted it in my dash and the screen brightness was terrible.I had it as bright as it would go and I couldn't see the screen good unless I looked at a certain angle just to see the screen clearly.I took it back out and sold it.I even called SH and they said that's as bright as it goes.I put a Garmin 740s in the dash and I can see it at any angle.I was very disappointed at the brightness of the Standard H.

Default CPN1010i

I've had the CPN1010i for well over a year. The display is bright and the features are great, but I've also had a few issues. The unit worked well at first, but then began having problems with the screen not responding to touch input. Then it began hanging on boot up, and I would have to disconnect the power from the back of the unit just to get it to power down. I sent the unit back to SH for warranty repair and it was returned quickly with no questions asked. I got the impression that my situation was not unique. I only had the repaired unit for a couple of months and can only hope it does not fail so quickly again.

It would have been nice if SH would have let me know if it was a hardware or software issue. I've lost confidence in the unit and if it fails again will get a different brand.

I have a CP 1000 that I have had for several years. It still works pretty well (except the MOB function doesn't work but I think it just needs to be reset).

The biggest complaint I have with it is the redraw time, how much faster are the newer units?
