Default Best time to buy

I am looking to upgrade my electronics, have narrowed it down to NSE 12 with broadband radar, bsm-1, ect. Currently a rebate on the navigation package, but if I buy now it will likely sit until spring (live in MA). So the question is; Is there a better time to buy marine electronics? Would it be better to wait until Apr. to buy?

Default When

I was looking at the same package. In the early part of the year, boat show season I could have gotten the NSE 12 with radar for $3400. I waited and discovered the prices later were much more. I think the pricing I mentioned is correct and a few online retailers had the offer. Overtons for one.

Shortly after the Chirp technology was announced. Now I wonder if these units were older units and that is why the big discount, i.e. touchscreen.

My opinion now is to not be so concerned with price, be more concerned with the latest technological improvements because these electronics have a short life as far as the manufacturers are now introducing newer units at a fast pace.

We should get a glimpse of things to come with the upcoming Ft. Lauderdale boat show.

If you want the latest tech I would definately wait. If you want the beast price you could wait and see if what you are looking for gets replaced by a newer version, then the one you are looking for will be blown out by everybody to bring in the newer gear.

I would guess the best price comes during the lowest demand....winter. If you are getting a good deal and expect to see the same models for sale in April (a good guess for NSS and 3g), it may be a good time real soon now.
