What to do with my 545s?

My Garmin 545s just went to blank screen. All cards updated. Power to unit. Buttons still "beep" but screen remains black, even in pitch darkness. The model is discontinued and out of warranty. Do I just chalk this up as a loss and go purchase new or is it worth trying to have it serviced?

I went through about 5 545s under warranty with the screen black out issue . I just had the last one blackout and it was 6 mos out of warranty - I called garmin and the first tech refused to warranty it, so I called back and the next tech sent me a refurbished one ! I love the features of the 545s but they are totally unreliable in my opinion . My standard horizon unit has given me no problems at all in the year and a half I have owned it.
