Default Need help wiring a trolling motor

I need help wiring my trolling motor.

I posted this in the general/engine section, but got nothing. So I figured I would try the electronics section.

I bought a boat second hand and it has never had a trolling motor on it. It was wired from the factory for one (4 prong round plug on the bow.) I pulled the plug and found the wires run to inside the console. There are 3 wires going to the plug. 1 solid red (I assume constant hot), one black ( obvious ground) and 1 red with a white stripe. One prong has nothing attached to it. All the wires are 8ga.

What are the 2 reds for? Does the two reds mean it's wired for 24volts or should I just use a 12v motor?

Boat is a Sea Pro 17'

The wires going to the plug can be wired for 12v or 24v. The trolling motor you have will tell you which way to wire it. You only need two wires for a 12v or 24v.
